I wonder if a small plastic piece form this part going in the coolant would generate a AOS problem... leak down, rich-smell, pure white smoke for a minute or so on cold startup, OK idle with an occaisional stumble). Explanation!! The smell of the smoke resembles the smell of a choked car, very un burnt petrol smell.Car runs rock solid, no noises or faults. I suspect that last service monkey may have been a bit to generous with the oil which will not have helped... page

You can protect against this by cleaning the induction system up to the throttle butterfly. As soon as the engine starts, the oil is burnt. I was brought up with the exact opposite advice!
Forgot your Password? Posts: 4,023 The AOS is a common issue on these cars, we probably do 6-8 a month at the shop. You can give the car an unofficial AOS test by attempting to remove the oil fill cap with the motor running. Luckily you can take it apart and tie it away.
So, in my case at least, the white smoke does not seem to be due to oil leaking from the valve guides down into the heat exchangers.

difficult to do unless you have the right pliers and a lift. Thanks - any advice would be appreciated. My car started smoking on startup today and had a rough idle throughout the day. But its sad to me that as they are adding so many GT features they can't engineer a system to stop Puff.
